The Karnataka High Court further instructed the sessions court to decide on the interim bail plea filed by Nikita Singhania, the wife of Atul Subhash, by January 4. Singhania is seeking interim bail after being arrested in connection with the death of her husband, who died by suicide last month while accusing her and her family of harassment.
In addition, the High Court directed that Bikas Kumar Modi, Subhash’s father, inform the Supreme Court about the case, as the family has filed a petition seeking custody of their grandson. This came after a request for interim bail by Singhania’s lawyer, who claimed that the arrest was illegal because the police had not provided a reason for her arrest. The lawyer further argued that Singhania needed bail to effectively participate in the ongoing habeas corpus petition before the Supreme Court, and that without it, she would be unable to present her case in the custody matter.
The court also informed that it would continue the hearing on January 6, following the sessions court’s hearing on Singhania’s bail application on January 4.
