Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud launched the e-DHCR, a new portal for accessing reportable judgments of the Delhi High Court, on Monday.
The e-DHCR portal will serve as the official repository for Delhi High Court judgments, housing over 2,000 judgments delivered by the court from 2007 to May 2024.
During the launch event, Acting Chief Justice (ACJ) Manmohan of the Delhi High Court highlighted that the e-DHCR portal will provide free access to these judgments, serving as a valuable resource for lawyers, litigants, law students, legal enthusiasts, and the general public.
“We have integrated an AI-powered advanced search algorithm to enhance search accuracy and offer personalized recommendations based on user interactions. This will help users navigate legal information more efficiently and effectively. The portal also includes multiple search options and filters, making it easier to find relevant information. Additional features like word highlighting, voice search, and graphs have also been incorporated,” ACJ Manmohan explained.
He further emphasized that the platform promotes inclusivity by offering features such as screen readers, high-contrast options, and keyboard navigation.
CJI Chandrachud underscored the importance of this initiative in helping the legal community embrace technology, thereby improving accessibility, sustainability, and legal research capabilities.
“As technology progresses, the legal system must adapt. Lawyers and litigants using electronic tools should not be expected to revert to outdated paper systems. The advance of technology is inevitable, and our courts must embrace these changes to enhance accessibility and efficiency. Each technological innovation, including the e-DHCR portal, is vital in creating a more accessible and efficient justice system. I encourage everyone to continue supporting and advocating for these transformative changes to ensure justice remains accessible to all,” the CJI stated.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Justice Yashwant Varma, chairperson of the e-DHCR Committee.
