The Calcutta High Court has granted interim relief to a unit of Delta Corp in a case concerning a ₹6,384 crore GST payment shortfall. Delta Corp stated in an exchange filing on Wednesday that the court has directed that no action be taken on any order issued by the tax authority regarding the show-cause notice.
In October, Deltatech Gaming Ltd. received communication from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence, Kolkata, regarding the payment shortfall of ₹6,236 crore for the period from January 2018 to November 2022, along with an additional ₹147 crore for July 2017 to October 2022.
Delta Corp has expressed its intention to explore all legal options to contest such tax demands and related proceedings.
Previously, in September, the company had received a demand notice for goods and services tax exceeding ₹16,000 crore. Delta Corp clarified that this amount was calculated based on the total bet value of all games played at its casinos during the relevant period.
Regarding the ₹16,000 crore tax notice, the Bombay High Court had granted interim relief in late October. Despite the total tax demand against the company exceeding ₹22,300 crore, its market capitalization on the BSE stands at ₹3,720.68 crore.
