Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Justice Nitin Jamdar as Chief Justice of Kerala High Court
The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice Nitin Jamdar of the Bombay High Court as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.
This decision was formalized through a resolution passed by the Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, and including Justices Sanjiv Khanna and BR Gavai. The resolution states:
“Bearing in mind that Mr. Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar is the senior most puisne Judge of the High Court of Bombay with experience on the judicial and administrative side, the Collegium recommends his appointment as Chief Justice of the High Court of Kerala.”
Born in 1964, Justice Jamdar practiced before the Bombay High Court before being elevated as a judge on January 23, 2012. He served as Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court from May 31 to July 28, 2023.
His predecessor at the Kerala High Court, Justice Ashish Jitendra Desai, retired from office on Thursday, July 4. Since then, Justice A Muhamed Mustaque has been serving as Acting Chief Justice.
