Parvez Tak, the third husband of Laila Khan’s mother Selina, has been convicted by the Mumbai Sessions Court for the murder and destruction of evidence. Tak was found guilty of killing actor Laila Khan, her four siblings, and her mother in 2011.
After 14 years since the Mumbai murders of actor Laila Khan and her family were exposed, the man accused of these horrific crimes has been convicted by a Mumbai court.
Parvez Tak, who was the third husband of Laila Khan’s mother Selina, was found guilty on Thursday by the Mumbai Sessions court for charges of murder and destruction of evidence under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The court will consider sentencing arguments on May 14.
Laila, her mother Selina, and four siblings were killed at their bungalow in Igatpuri in February 2011 by Tak. According to the prosecution, Tak murdered his wife Selina following an argument over her properties. He then proceeded to kill Laila and her four siblings.
The prosecution’s case suggested that Tak felt mistreated by Selina and her family, fearing that she would abandon him in India while relocating to Dubai.
The murders were brought to light months later when Tak was apprehended by the Jammu and Kashmir police due to unrelated criminal cases.
The decomposed bodies of the victims were later discovered at a farmhouse in Igatpuri owned by Laila Khan’s family.
Throughout the years, the prosecution presented evidence from 40 witnesses against Tak in this case.
