Mumbai Police intensified its investigation after receiving a threatening call against actor Shah Rukh Khan on November 5. The call, allegedly made by Chhattisgarh-based lawyer Faizan Khan, demanded ₹50 lakh and issued a death threat, specifically naming Shah Rukh’s residence, Mannat, in Bandstand, Mumbai. The threat alarmed authorities, prompting immediate action.
Constable Santosh Ghodke, who took the call, recalled the caller saying, “If Shah Rukh Khan doesn’t give me ₹50 lakh, I will kill him.” When asked to identify himself, the caller ambiguously replied, “It doesn’t matter; call me Hindustani.”
Following the incident, the Bandra Police Station registered an FIR under Sections 308 (extortion) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. On November 7, the Mumbai Police dispatched a team to Raipur to trace Faizan Khan, who was identified as the primary suspect. Upon questioning, Khan claimed his phone had been stolen on November 2, suggesting someone else may have used it to make the call.
Despite his claim, Khan’s failure to appear before the police led to his arrest in Raipur’s Pandri area. The case is gaining attention as it aligns with a recent trend of threats linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has been connected to similar incidents involving prominent personalities.
Mumbai Police is investigating potential connections and assessing whether Khan acted independently or as part of a more extensive network, possibly connected to the Bishnoi gang’s recent activities targeting high-profile figures.
