Justice Manmohan officially took oath as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court today. The oath was administered by Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena, during a ceremony that was also attended by Delhi’s newly appointed Chief Minister, Atishi.
Justice Manmohan, an alumnus of Campus Law Centre, began his legal career in 1987 when he enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi. In 2003, he was designated as a Senior Advocate, and in 2008, he was elevated to the position of an additional judge of the Delhi High Court, becoming a permanent judge the following year.
On November 9, 2023, he was appointed Acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and BR Gavai, recommended his elevation to Chief Justice on July 11, 2024. The Centre officially notified his appointment on September 21.
Chief Justice Manmohan, whose tenure as Chief Justice is set to conclude upon his retirement on December 16, 2024, is recognized for his judicial contributions and leadership within the legal community.
