Justice BV Nagarathna has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the reconstituted Gender Sensitisation and Internal Complaints Committee of the Supreme Court. This appointment was formalized in an office order issued on Wednesday, following the retirement of Justice Hima Kohli, whom Justice Nagarathna replaces.
The newly reconstituted committee includes Justice N Kotiswar Singh, Senior Advocate and Member of Parliament Bansuri Swaraj, and Advocate Sakshi Banga as new members. Senior Advocate Menaka Guruswamy and Advocate Nina Gupta continue as representatives from the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).
Previously, Guruswamy was part of the committee as an outside member nominated by the Chief Justice of India due to her involvement in gender and social justice causes. That role is now filled by Bansuri Swaraj in the new committee.
