In the recent Porsche car accident case, a Pune court on Tuesday remanded three accused to police custody until May 24, as reported by ANI.
The police arrested Naman Bhutada, the owner of Cosie hotel, along with Sachin Katkar, the bar counter manager, and Sachin Sangle, the manager of Blak club, for allegedly serving alcohol to the juvenile involved in the incident.
It was further reported that the father of the juvenile has also been arrested. However, the police have not yet presented him in court for custody.
On Sunday, the 17-year-old son of a prominent builder in Pune collided his Porsche car with a motorcycle in the Kalyani Nagar area, resulting in the death of two individuals. Investigations revealed that the minor had consumed alcohol at a pub with his friends before the accident.
The minor driver was charged with reckless and negligent driving, causing harm by endangering lives, and death by negligence under Sections 304A, 279, 337, and 338 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), as well as provisions of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Act. Additionally, the juvenile was booked under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC and is likely to be tried as an adult.
A Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) in Pune granted bail to the minor on Sunday, with the condition that he must submit a 300-word essay on road accidents after studying all traffic rules and regulations at the Regional Transport Office (RTO). The Board also directed the minor’s parents to ensure that he does not engage in such offenses in the future and stays away from bad company.
