With just under a month left before completing two years in office as Maharashtra Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde is actively campaigning. As 11 constituencies in Maharashtra prepare to vote in the fourth phase on Monday, Shinde discusses the prospects of the ruling Mahayuti alliance in the state, Uddhav Thackeray, the Maratha quota issue, and the Opposition’s allegations that the BJP aims to amend the Constitution if it returns to power in the state.

Excerpts:

📌 Initially, there was a target of 45-plus seats from Maharashtra. Now, we hear the tally has been revised to below 35.
All the discussions happening outside are by the Opposition. I am confident that we will secure more seats than last time. This is because we have showcased our work over the past two years. Most work was stalled before our government came to power. Today, we are focused on all stakeholders — from farmers and women to the youth and senior citizens. People have recognized the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over 10 years and that of our government in the last two years. Looking ahead, we have extensive plans for infrastructure development. Our goal is to re-elect Prime Minister Modi and strengthen the nation. This is crucial for the country’s progress.

📌 We are sensing that Dalit voters are unhappy…
It’s a matter of perception. When they (the Opposition) realized they were losing the election, they began spreading rumors that the Constitution would be amended. Can you really change the Constitution? The Congress has made 82 amendments to the Constitution; Babasaheb (Ambedkar) was defeated by the Congress in elections. He was against the Congress and called it a house on fire, warning not to get close to it. Who initiated Constitution Day? It was Prime Minister Modi.

Eknath Shinde interview highlights:

With less than a month left before completing two years as Maharashtra Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde is actively campaigning as 11 constituencies in Maharashtra gear up for the fourth phase of voting on Monday. Shinde discusses the ruling Mahayuti alliance’s prospects in the state, Uddhav Thackeray, the Maratha quota issue, and the Opposition’s allegations regarding potential changes to the Constitution if the BJP returns to power in the state.

Key Excerpts:

📌 Initial Seat Target Revision:
The opposition is spreading rumors about seat targets. I am confident we will secure more seats than last time due to our demonstrated work over the past two years. Most stalled work has been revived, benefiting farmers, women, youth, and seniors. People recognize the progress under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and our government’s initiatives. Our goal is to re-elect Prime Minister Modi for a stronger nation.

📌 Dalit Voter Perception:
It’s a matter of perception. Opposition rumors of changing the Constitution arose when they feared losing the election. The Constitution cannot be changed, and Modi’s government respects it. We reassure Dalits that Babasaheb’s Constitution remains unchanged and instrumental in our achievements.

📌 Maratha Reservation Issue:
Our government supports Maratha reservation without reducing benefits to other communities. We aim for fair representation and resolve community concerns positively.

📌 Reservation Demands and Employment Opportunities:
Reservation demands reflect aspirations for employment and education advantages. We emphasize skill development for job readiness, partnering with private sectors like the Tata Group.

📌 Shiv Sena Ideology and Party Split:
Our work upholds Balasaheb Thackeray’s ideology. The opposing faction’s ideology has diverged. Development, not idle politics, is our focus.

📌 Leadership Dynamics and Promises:
Our collective decisions should not target individuals or parties. We promote community welfare and development initiatives.

📌 Religious Polarization and Election Issues:
Elections should focus on development, not religious polarization. Modi’s inclusive schemes benefit everyone, without discrimination.

📌 Nationalist Sentiments and Allegations:
Nationalist Muslims are part of India, contrasting with those echoing Pakistan. We reject divisive politics.

📌 Party Loyalty and Alliance Dynamics:
Intra-party wrangling and shifting allegiances won’t hinder our alliance’s success. We prioritize unity and effective governance.

📌 Agricultural Challenges and Government Initiatives:
Government actions address agricultural challenges, from export bans to irrigation projects and financial support for farmers.

Shinde emphasizes development, unity, and community welfare in shaping Maharashtra’s future.
