Chennai Teacher Convicted, Jailed for Child Sexual Abuse
A former teacher at the prestigious Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) School in Chennai has been sentenced to two years in prison for sexually harassing multiple minor students. Rajagopalan, the convicted teacher, was found guilty under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The incidents, which took place in 2021, involved a range of disturbing behaviors, including sending inappropriate messages, appearing half-naked during online classes, and making lewd comments.
Multiple students, both current and former, came forward with allegations against Rajagopalan. Their brave testimonies detailed the emotional and psychological trauma they endured as a result of the teacher’s predatory actions.
The conviction powerfully conveys that such heinous crimes will not be tolerated. It is crucial to continue raising awareness about child sexual abuse and to empower victims to come forward without fear of judgment or retaliation.
