The Supreme Court on Friday emphasized that the Central government and the National Testing Agency (NTA) must take precautions to ensure that the issues encountered during the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test undergraduate exam for 2024 (NEET UG 2024) are not repeated in the future.
The Court stressed that any lapses or errors, such as those highlighted in the case of Vanshika Yadav vs. Union of India, should be rectified promptly to maintain the integrity of the examination process. The bench further urged the NTA and the Centre to avoid any inconsistencies or “flip-flops” in their administration of the exam, underscoring the importance of a fair and transparent testing system for the aspirations of millions of students.
The Court’s remarks came in response to concerns raised over procedural irregularities, which had led to confusion and dissatisfaction among candidates. The justices noted that such issues must be addressed systematically to prevent future disruptions and to uphold the credibility of national entrance examinations.
