The Delhi High Court has introduced a free Wi-Fi facility on its premises for lawyers and the public.
Phase I of the free Wi-Fi facility was inaugurated on Wednesday by Acting Chief Justice Manmohan, alongside Justice Rajiv Shakdher and several other judges.
During the event, Acting Chief Justice Manmohan highlighted that the administration of the Delhi High Court is managed by judges rather than government officials, putting it at the forefront of reforms.
“We must thank our predecessors for this. It takes a huge toll on each and every judge. But this is a small price to pay to ensure that this court stays ahead of the curve. The Bar must realize this and appreciate what the judges of this court do even after court hours,” Justice Manmohan said.
He added that reforms at the Delhi High Court will continue, with more new facilities set to be inaugurated after the summer vacations.
In Phase I, the free Wi-Fi service will be available in A Block, B Block, C Block, Extension Block, the Mediation Centre, and the Lawyers’ Cafeteria.
“Advocates, litigants, and visitors can connect to the Wi-Fi network using their mobile devices, laptops, or tablets. The network is designed to handle a high volume of users, ensuring reliable and fast internet access. Robust security measures have been implemented to protect users’ data and ensure a safe browsing experience,” the High Court stated.
The new website of the Delhi High Court was also launched at the event.
“The new website has been designed with responsive web design features, automatically adjusting for different screen sizes to function smoothly on desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones,” the court informed.
The new website includes dedicated facilities for advocates and litigants, integrating applications such as e-Filing, e-RTI, e-Sewa Kendra & Accessibility Helpline, Online Gate Pass System, and Creche facility registration without redirecting to separate URLs. It also features an e-True Copy Application, a Virtual Tour, and detailed information on current and former judges. A new feature, Landmark Judgments of Delhi High Court, will be added soon.
The event also saw the launch of the “e-True Copy Application of Delhi High Court” and the “Virtual Tour of Delhi High Court – Phase I.”
These initiatives were conceptualized by Justice Rajiv Shakdher, Chairman of the Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Accessibility Committee of the High Court, with guidance from Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva. Justices Sanjeev Narula, Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav, Swarana Kanta Sharma, and Girish Kathpalia are also members of the committee.
